Basingstoke Beekeepers
Basingstoke and District Beekeeping Association has a training apiary on the estate. The bees can make the most of the forage from our woodland and organic crops; and we’re always happy to have vital pollinators at Kingsclere.

Basingstoke and District Beekeeping Association (B&DBKA) has a new training apiary on the estate, with 10 strong colonies. The bees can make the most of the forage from the carefully managed woodland and organic crops; and we’re always happy to have vital pollinators at Kingsclere.
Honeybees are very efficient at pollinating crops that are valuable to us humans – fruit, some field crops, vegetables and some herbs – and help us continually improve the estate’s biodiversity.
The site of the training apiary, near Ibworth, is ideal for beekeeping and training, with good access, parking and shelter for the bees. A team of assistant apiary managers looks after the colonies to make sure they’re in top condition for BBA’s training and Beekeeping Taster Days.
BBA runs training sessions for new beekeepers, as well as a number of specialist courses for more experienced members, including queen rearing, pest and disease control. They’ve been overwhelmed with the interest in their practical and theory courses.
